Shurgard is the leading self-storage company in Europe, and is part of Public Storage, the largest storage solutions provider in the United States. The European operations span 189 storage locations in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and United Kingdom. To support the European operations of the company, Shurgard hosts its business critical applications in Colt’s primary, carrier neutral data centre in Belgium. With important customer related applications running centrally, the availability of Shurgard’s data centre environment is critical to ensure maximum customer service levels; at the same time, Shurgard needed to improve their IT disaster recovery and business continuity capabilities.  (Also available in Dutch)

Auriga Securities is an institutional broker/dealer based in Madrid with core focuses on equities research and and trading in residential mortgage backed securities.
Working with ODM, a Colt Platinum Partner, Auriga implemented an intelligent network that demonstrated 100% availability of voice communications.

Berenberg was founded in 1590, and today, it is one of Europe's leading private financial institutions, with its private banking, investment banking, asset management and corporate banking divisions. In order to guarantee that its data is secure, both the operation of the secondary data centre and the high-availability network, which enables the data centres to be connected and mirrored in real time, have been implemented by Colt for Berenberg.

ClearStructure, a financial technology specialist chooses Colt IP Access solution for robust voice and data services and superior customer service as part of successful relocation to new offices.

EuroCCP is the leading pan-European cash equities clearing house and central counterparty. It relies on robust networking services to help manage the risks associated with clearing and settlement for Europe’s largest equities trading houses.  The reliability and flexibility of Colt's service enables EuroCCP the time to respond to the most important challenges facing the business, such as additional detailed reporting required by regulators. Fidelity is a global investment management company. Colt operates and monitors Fidelity’s new data centre facility, providing a scalable platform to meet future business demands. 

Dutch merchant bank Kempen & Co prides itself on providing the best capital management, securities broking, corporate finance and investment services to customers, including institutional investors, financial institutions, governments, foundations and individuals. Since 2003, Colt has been such a partner for the bank, providing a growing number of managed IT and business continuity services that free Kempen & Co to focus on its core business with the same confidence it gives to its customers. The UK-based independent fund promotion firm, Source, specialises in exchange-traded products, a rapidly growing area of the financial industry. Launched in 2009, Source has grown aggressively to manage $15 billion of assets, becoming the fifth largest provider of its kind, with the core of its business in the European equity markets. In a dynamic trading environment, flexible and resilient data provision is essential to manage a rapidly expanding volume of transactions. Hospitality and Leisure

ABBA Hotels uses Colt’s scalable solution to centralize their telecommunication services to all hotels in a single data centre. 

Louvre Hotels Group is the second largest hotel chain in Europe, with 920 hotels ranging from budget to luxury brands. Working with Colt since 2002, Colt solutions are used to underpin their critical application for more effective business performance; as well as provide WiFi, international call services and innovative booking and check-in services for their customers.

To make Ireland stand out to potential visitors in today's media-hungry world, Tourism Ireland needs a network with the bandwidth and reliability to support new marketing channels and multimedia formats, including video and apps. The challenge was to increase bandwidth without increasing costs. With Colt's offer, Tourism Ireland is able to triple network speed while actually cutting costs by 30%.


AOK is a Health insurer in Germany with over 25 million policy holders, 56,000 employees in approximately 1,600 branches. We provided a fully supported MPLS network with provisioning, monitoring and operational responsibility for their web-based communication platform, using two Colt high security data centres.

Neversa eG is an insurance service provider in Germany. Colt implemented cloud based services in conjunction with IP-based data and voice transmission. All relevant software applications are provided “on demand”.

IT and Telco

Through the Hammersmith & Fulham Bridge Partnership (HFBP), a joint venture established by London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham and Agilisys in 2006, the company has saved £38 million while delivering better IT service levels, contributing to the council’s ability to reduce council tax for residents by at least 3% for four years in a row. One of HFBP's programmes, the SmartWorking programme, lets staff easily work from different locations - and potentially with any device - by establishing a secure connection to centrally hosted applications, documents and data. Colt provides a highly scalable virtual desktop service on an integrated infrastructure-as-a-service platform to underpin the service transformation.

With Colt Enterprise Cloud ASM Web Services can offer end-to-end solutions – comprising service, applications, infrastructure and management – a proposition that’s especially important for small and medium-sized companies. The solution also enables more innovation and flexible configurations to meet customers’ requirements.

Big Little Fish confirms, that Colt has an extensive portfolio of quality enterprise-class cloud services that scaled from a single user upwards. Little Big Fish found with Colt a provider offering the required granularity and flexibility in cloud infrastructure and services to suit the needs of smaller businesses.

The Colt solution enables ASMWS to provide centralised management with unified hosting on a single server, boosting the efficiency of Codorníu’s IT team despite the challenges of launching an online sales channel.

Colt demonstrates the benefits of a Unified Communications and Collaboration strategy.

CRS Group, a major Italian company founded in 1994, offers ICT services to small and medium enterprises that have minimal internal IT expertise. The Group, who provide assistance to nearly 1,500 lawyers across 30 law firms, specialises in the legal industry as a core sector for the business.  Their experience in this market shows that the potential revenue loss caused by an interruption of the network could reach 20% a year, the equivalent of 15 million Euros.  This risk is mitigated through the creation of a unified, reliable and secure network from Colt, connecting the data centre and company offices with those of their clients.

EURid, the European Registry of Internet Domain Names, chooses Colt Multi Site Business solutions to improve productivity and ensure high levels of customer service through reliable application access and network performance.

Colt provides Belgium-based systems integrator Ferranti Computer Systems with a managed IT solution that its customers rely on every day. Ferranti houses its network operations centre (NOC) in Colt's data centre in Brussels.

McAfee, the world's largest dedicated security technology company, offers its software security services to both businesses and home users throughout the world. The flexibility offered by Smart Office enabled McAfee to turn to Colt as a single source of network provision, from day to day connectivity and voice access to Internet and data access solutions, all from a single provider.

With Colt’s Enterprise Cloud, S-4 has been able to define a pay-per-use model for cloud-based applications that can be accessed using site-to-site VPNs or secure SSL protocols.  Their users can access the cloud from anywhere, which enables S-4 to address a much broader range of potential customers.

Steria is an international IT outsourcing company and has been designing, implementing and managing bespoke end-to-end IT projects for over 25 years.

As a managed IT service provider, Tegen has the expertise to build a cloud platform. But the company didn’t want to deflect any resources away from its core mission of delivering tailored client solutions. That’s why Tegen turned to Colt.


Studio Torta, one of Italy’s leading intellectual property consultancies, is well aware of the risk management requirements associated with storing its clients’ patents, industrial designs, trademarks and other proprietary data and technical documentation. Colt installed a dedicated, fully Redundant, high-speed connection between Studio Torta’s head office and the Colt data centre in Turin, implemented synchronisation services that ensure data is constantly replicated across the two locations, and put a disaster recovery plan in place.

Manufacturing / FMCG

Gallina Blanca Star is a European FMCG company who is understanding the increasing importance of technology, to share customer data into valuable insight back into the business.  After deciding to stop investing in hardware with high CAPEX financial investment, Gallina Blanca Star chose Colt as their infrastructure partner with a pay as you go (PAYG) framework so to be able to adapt to the changing needs of the business. Colt's service also supports business continuity with a disaster recovery solution, which is yet to be relied upon. Watch the video to learn more.

Leading companies in fields as diverse as oil & gas, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs rely on Yokogawa's industrial automation applications and distributed control systems to monitor and control production operations and safety processes. At sites ranging from food-packaging plants to offshore oil rigs, Yokogawa solutions help to increase efficiency, reduce equipment failure, improve safety and reduce operator errors.  Since its partnership with Colt began, Yokogawa has been able to work much more proactively with its customers. Berlinale, is the international film festival with the world’s largest audience, selling over 300,000 tickets to the public and screening over 100 films across 10 days. Colt’s flexible network and data centre solutions enable Berlinale to manage the digitalisation of content, with a reliable and extensive network coverage across Berlin. As the sole network provider, Colt ensures the audience experiences the magic of cinema just in time, as films as stored in the Colt data centre are broadcast across the city.

Canal Plus, as part of the Vivendi Group, is a major subscription television broadcaster and media distributor in France.  Here they talk about their relationship with Colt Technology Services, and how their business benefits from a tailored-made private network solution and managed services (video).

DMedia Group S.p.A. is the leading local media group in north-west Italy. The Colt network infrastructure supports the distribution of their applications and strengthens their cloud computing services, allowing workers to connect from anywhere in the world to the main iNetweeK site, and access in real time all the information they need to carry out their work.

Domino creates interactive communication projects that help its clients grow their business. The agency specialises in integrating a client’s multiple touchpoints using interactive techniques.

EUROVISION is the network arm of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and carries more than 30,000 hours of live sports, and over 88,000 hours of programming every year.  Developing their partnership with Colt, EUROVISION asked Colt to ensure a smooth transition over to the Colt network without any service interruption.  Colt was also tasked with future proofing the network to enable broadcast developments such as ultra-high definition TV, second-screen services and a likely growth in remote production. Globelynx connects corporate clients to TV news broadcasters in the UK and worldwide to maximise their exposure on television, direct from the office. Sdu Uitgevers specialises in providing content to professionals active in legal affairs, fiscal law, central and local government and regulatory information for  industry.  As well as traditional print, Sdu is increasingly focused on online content distribution – where brand reputation depends on being able to provide customers with quick and reliable access to valuable content on demand. In this competitive market, customer retention is underpinned by the accessibility and stability of Sdu’s data infrastructure, making the relationship with Colt and the performance of its data centres critical to Sdu’s operation. TF1, one of Europe’s leading commercial broadcasters, with 45% advertising market share, and 35% audience share, talks about their 12 year relationship with Colt Technology Services and their use of Colt HD Broadcasting solutions to improve quality and meet cost efficiencies within the business (video).

Online Business

Delticom AG is Europe's leading online tyre retailer. With 126 online shops in 41 countries, the company offers its private and business customers an unequalled assortment of excellently priced car tyres, motorcycle tyres, truck tyres, bus tyres, special tyres, bicycle tyres, rims, complete wheels selected replacement car parts and accessories, motor oil and batteries.  To ensure its online dealer platforms and telephone hotlines are accessible around the clock, Delticom relies on services from Colt.

The Meetic Group has grown rapidly since its first users met online more than a decade ago. Today it's an undisputed leader in the market: its dating sites, which include match.com and neu.de, serve more than 800,000 members in 16 European countries. Tick Tack Ticket, a leading ticket agency in Spain, use Colt so that their customers can access event information with secure online payment.

Colt’s IP telephony complies with various countries’ national regulations. This enabled the deployment of a unique pan-European solution. France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain and the UK have been connected via Colt network and it´s partner operator network. trivago has a national number in each of these countries, and all calls are routed over the Colt network directly to Düsseldorf.

Public Sector

Consorci AOC expands e-government in the Spanish region of Catalonia. The Catalan administrations provide a wide range of online services enabling activities such as exploring and analysing publicly available data, finding information, setting up associations, paying traffic fines and reporting petty thefts. Over the past 10 years, extranet services and other forms of electronic communications have more or less replaced postal services across Catalonia's public sector, leading to considerable cost savings. Consolidating infrastructure with Colt cuts Consorci AOC's colocation costs by over 30% while simplifying IT management and increasing productivity.

CTTI manages the technology and telecommunications for Generalitat de Catalunya in Spain.  For the last 8 years, CTTI has worked with Colt, and following the success of this relationship, the contract has just been extended for another 6 years, to connect the 6000 buildings of the government 12 departments, including Police, Justice etc. Colt helps CTTI manage the LAN and WAN network, to ensure the highest availability across the business, and to enable 25% budget reduction as part of the transformation project currently being rolled out across the Generalitat de Catalunya. VERA  serves around 85% of the local government organisations in Belgium's Flemish Brabant province. Many of these organisations are too small to justify having their own in-house ICT teams. The Cloud Infrastructure Service's pay-as-you-grow charging model lets VERA pay only for the capacity it uses. With no need for capital investment in servers and other infrastructure elements, the company can budget more easily and make more effective use of its funding resources.

Real Estate

BNP Paribas Real Estate Germany (BNPPRE) has 12 office locations and more than 700 employees in Germany,  offering national and international clients in Germany comprehensive services across all stages of the real estate cycle.  The real estate experts rely on a network to conduct their critical business - communicating with owners, tenants and suppliers, creating particulars, responding to enquiries and completing invoicing. In conjunction with the recent mergers, the company is also centralising its IT department to achieve the strategic goals of cost reduction and easier IT operations management. Applications and data in the data centre makes connectivity over the network essential, so employees can access the resources and perform their day-to-day business activities.

Colt Enterprise Cloud helps PRYCONSA, a property development company, accelerate and optimise SAP availability. Migrating to Colt Enterprise Cloud enables PRYCONSA’s small IT team to concentrate on defining new business-related projects.


Leroy Merlin knows when not to do-it-yourself. Colt frees home improvement leader to focus on business transformation. Together Colt’s infrastructure and networking services have enabled Leroy Merlin to devote their time to customer service and business evolution across their 47 Italian stores.

Nectar Italia’s loyalty scheme launched in 2010; today it serves over 10 million users. Consumers earn points for purchases that can be redeemed on rewards, or used as discounts with participating retailers. Nectar Italia’s systems must be capable of handling a high number of transactions from a growing base of retailers, with nearly 6,000 point of sale systems. Colt played an important role in Nectar Italia’s rapid expansion from start-up to household name, and continues to facilitate business growth with robust, flexible IT infrastructure and networking services.


In the competitive air transport market, airlines are constantly looking to optimise their internal costs. Swiss International Airlines’s (SWISS) partnership with Colt is proving its worth in this respect. Since making the bold move to the innovative and flexible Colt VoIP solution in 2007, call costs have reduced by around 20%, while service quality has gone up.
